What can I use as a home remedy for gingivitis in a dog?

I would get a dog toothbrush and toothpaste from the pet store, and brush Sweet Pea's teeth daily. There are specific dental chews you can get as well to help with the gingivitis, and I would recommend feeding her a dry dog food which help breaks up plaque. You can also get a oral canine mouth wash which will help break up plaque and clean her mouth. It is important to have her mouth examined by a vet, however, as gingivitis can't be cured at home. Gingivitis can be very severe and will require a dental cleaning, scaling, and polishing. Teeth can be loosened by deep pockets created by gingivitis, and may need to be removed if they are too loose.
