My cat has fleas. Is Frontline or Advantage better than Seargents?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Female | spayed | 7 lbs

I've been using Seargents Flea and tick medicine on my cat. It seems to reduce them, but not much more than that. We don't have enough money to get Revolution from the vet. Will Frontline or Advantage work? If so, which one works the best?

I like advantage better than Frontline. That said, some veterinary office will sell flea products one unit (one month) at a time. They only require a physical exam once a year most likely, so they can establish a patient client relationship. I really like revolution or Comfortis for flea medicine but if you have to pick between advantage and frontline I prefer advantage. You could also alternate advantage one month, frontline one month then go back to advantage. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

I've had the best success with Frontline as a topical preventative. If you are able to get Frontline, I would recommend using it. If Frontline does not work, you can always try a different topical but not at the same time.
