My cat died suddenly after gasping and vomiting. What happened?

Cat returned home last night quietly gasping for breath but purring deteriorated quickly howling in agony flopping on side and wrenching a gel like substance from mouth then died! Do u know what may be the cause please? Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | 6 lbs

So sorry this happened! It sounds like a toxicity of some sort. He probably ate something he shouldn't have (something poisonous or toxic to cats). The only way you will know for sure is to have a necropsy (autopsy) done by your vet but even then, many toxicities are hard to prove. A necropsy can rule out a problem with the heart or lungs which are also possible or some type of trauma he may have sustained. Again, sorry this happened. Hope this answered your question.
