My dog has itchy bumps after flea medicine. When should I see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Female | spayed | 8 years and 11 months old | 72 lbs

9 year old mix, today I noticed a lot of bumps biggest is nickel sized smallest is pea sized. They seem to itch like a mosquito bite. She had her flea and tick medicine, Brovecto a little over a month ago. Should I be worried, take her in? I can't really get a good look at them, her fur is way too dense.

This could be an allergic reaction or a skin infection. I would give her 75mg (3 adult tablets) of Benadryl twice a day to see if the whelps improved. If not, then I would have your vet look at it to see if she needs some stronger allergy meds or some antibiotics. I hope this helps.
