My dog put a toad in his mouth. Is he okay? What should I do now?

My dog just had a toad in his mouth will he be Ok? I live in South Dakota and it was just a regular toad that I see all the time.

Hi there and thank you for using Pet Coach! From the picture you posted it does not appear that the toad is a Colorado River Toad or a Marine Toad, which are two of the most common toads we see that cause toxicity. I would make sure you rinse Cash's mouth out really well with a garden hose and monitor him after to make sure he does not develop sores in his mouth or other symptoms such as lethargy, seizures, neurological side effects, etc. If he does develop strange symptoms, I would get him examined by your veterinarian to be on the safe side.
