Why does my cat bite and lock jaw when cuddling my boyfriend?

Okay so just recently my cat has had moments where he will be cuddling my boyfriend then randomly bite him and it would appear his jaw becomes locked shut to which he then yowls my boyfriend had to pry him off this happened twice at random times then the most recent time he went to do it again his teeth only touched my boyfriend before yowling then seemed unphased straight after like both other times..he is around a year and a half old this has never happened.. Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 7 lbs

Hi there and thank you for your post! With what you are describing, I would think either behavioral or that something is going on inside his mouth or with the jaw itself. I would have your vet take a look at him to figure out the cause. If something is wrong with his mouth or jaw, your vet may want to take some x-rays of his head to make sure there are no major concerns. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction.
