It can be very frustrating when cats urinate outside the litter box. I would start by taking mittens to the vet and make sure she does not have a urinary tract infection or crystals in the urine. If the vet can prove that mittens does not have a medical issue than behavioral is most likely the issue. I would recommend increasing the number of litter boxes. You can try to put a box in the location she is urinating. Also you should try to decrease stress in the house but providing her space where no one else really goes. Feliway is a cat pheromone you can try and buy online. You can place it in the room that Mittens hangs out in the most to help decrease stress.
