Pet's info: Cat | Siamese | Female | spayed | 15 years and 7 months old | 7 lbs
15 year old cat is deficating all over living room. Thought it was scatting, gave her plenty of love, catnip, and put lavender fragrance. Problem persisted, so I got a motion sensor that screams when she goes in the corner where she has been pooping. Now she is going in the middle of floor! Tried new litter, new box, old litter, everything!

If your veterinarian has not done so already, I would ask her to run full bloodwork including thyroid levels to rule out any underlying disease. I would also request a decal analysis to screen for GI parasites.

Poor Amy! In a 15 year old cat, it's very likely that there is an underlying medical problem causing her to defecate in unusual places - this is very common with illnesses like hyperthyroidism, inflammatory bowel disease, chronic pancreatitis, etc. If she does have a medical issue, this will need to be diagnosed and treated in order for you to have any success at stopping the inappropriate defecation. I would recommend taking her to the vet for an exam as soon as you are able to - he/she can do a fecal exam, blood work, and possibly other testing if needed to help determine what's wrong and get her started on appropriate treatment.
