Pet's info: Cat | Persian | Female | 1 year and 3 months old
I have a male kitten in the age of 4 months and he started trying to mate with my old cats, is this an age which he can become a father or all of his attempts is useless?

This is typically on the young side but not impossible. Generally they reach sexual maturity around 6-8 months but some have been reported as early as 4-5 months. It is best to keep them separate or have him fixed to prevent any unwanted kittens

As soon as you’re male cat is sexually mature (4-6 months old), they can and WILL mate and have kittens. I’d recommend getting your female cat spayed as soon as possible to avoid this. (She is already old enough to have kittens.) I suppose you could wait until your male cat is a little older and get him neutered while keeping them totally separated- but that seems the riskier way to go to me. Best of luck to you and the kitties!

Most kittens will not hit puberty until 6 months of age but it can rarely happen as young as 4 months of age. I recommend to call your veterinarian and let them know what is happening. They may go ahead and agree to get both kittens sterilized since the male is showing signs of puberty. You may also look for a vet who will sterilize them a little earlier. Unless the female goes into heat, she can’t get pregnant. I hope this is helpful and please feel free to post any additional questions.
