Pet's info: Cat | Maine Coon | Female | spayed | 6 years old | 9 lbs
My indoor cat has been infested with fleas. I feel like we have tried just about everything..topical treatment, flea collar, flea bombed multiple times, used the carpet cleaner that's meant to kill flea eggs, flea shampoo and used dawn dish soap during a bath. She has a ton of scabs on her neck from scratching and it's breaking my heart, we had to put down her sister because she went into a seizure after the topical flea meds so we're scared to use certain things but need to get rid of them!

Hello there and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I am sorry to hear you are having such a hard time with the fleas. They key to ensure an end to fleas on your cat, Myla is use an efficacious product (one that works and works well with minimal reported side effects) and to use it year round. There are many flea treatment and preventative medications out there. The ones that have proven to be the most effective and safe to use on your pet are Rx medications you will get through your veterinarian. Most of them will be once monthly medications you will give orally or once monthly topically. Comfortis, bravecto for cats, and revolution for cats are excellent products you can acquire from your vet just to name a few.

I am so sorry your cats are going through this. I would recommend getting a flea product from your veterinarian. They have topical medications that you use once a month for 3 months to get rid of fleas. These products work very well but your veterinarian can make sure they get you safe products for your cats. I would also recommend a visit with a veterinarian since they may need antibiotics to help with the scabs and the possible infection they have from scratching due to the fleas. Your veterinarian can also give them an injection or medication to stop the itching and make them more comfortable. I would make sure all animals in the house are treated for at least 3 months. I would also make sure you are vacuuming daily and cleaning sheets as often as possible. I would also consider an exterminator for your home. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
