Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 8 years and 3 months old | 69 lbs
I just moved from Wisconsin to Tennessee. Didn't have a flea or tick preventative on Maddy. She now has bumps all over her body. I put a Seresto collar on her and gave her an oatmeal bath 2 days ago but the bumps are still there.

It looks like your dog has a skin infection, most likely caused by allergies or fleas. The allergies can be from a protein in her food or to something in the environment, like grasses, pollens, dust, etc. The allergies cause a breakdown in the skin barrier and make the dog very itchy. The excessive itching and licking cause the skin infection. I would recommend taking Maddy in to see the vet so she can be started on some antibiotics to help clear up the skin. You have her on a good flea control now so that should get under control quickly. You may want to ask about a medicated shampoo, these can help clear up the skin more quickly. I would also recommend discussing with your vet some options for medication to help control the allergy symptoms like Atopica, Apoquel, or Cytopoint. There are probably a lot of new allergens that Maddy is being introduced to now that you are in Tennessee. And if she is not already on heartworm prevention I would talk to your vet about that too. Heartworm disease is a lot more prevalent in the south since it is spread by mosquitos. Good luck!

Hello! Thank you for using Pet Coach! It looks like Maddy may have a skin infection based on the pictures you provided. I would suggest establishing Maddy with a new veterinarian in Tennessee to be examined in order to receive the most appropriate therapy. If you are unable to make it to a vet, you can begin topical therapy with a medicated shampoo. I would suggest Duoxo Chlorhexidine PS shampoo, Welactin omega-3 fish oil and essential 6 spot on by dermoscent. This may also require oral antibiotics (if this is a skin infection indeed) or other therapy. I would still see a veterinarian for an examination prior to starting these topical therapies if possible. Another possibility is that these are insect bites that may have become secondarily infected. Lastly, if this is not allergies or an infection, the bumps may need to be investigated further to determine if they are skin tumors that are concerning. I hope this guides you in the right direction. If you have any questions / concerns feel free to contact me. I am also available via consultation.
