My cat keeps peeing in the tub. Is it a UTI? What home remedies?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | neutered | 1 year and 9 months old | 21 lbs

My cat urinates in my tub, not all the time but at least 3x weekly. I read that it could be a urinary tract issue, is there a way to treat this at home, new food, etc?

It definitely sounds like a urinary tract infection is possible. If that is the case, there are no home remedies- he would need an antibiotic and pain medications. However, some cats can show signs of an infection without having one. This still needs a visit to the vet to diagnose, and they can discuss environmental changes for Jack. Lastly, cats can inappropriately urinate due to stress. For those reasons, I recommend a product called Feliway to help calm Jack (you can get that at a pet store). Again, I would start with an exam and urine check for Jack and go from there. Good luck and kisses to Jack!
