My senior dog's belly is dark/purple, but he's acting normal. Why?

We went away for 2 days, and came back to notice our 10yr old dachshund mix with a purple/darker belly area. He is acting fine otherwise. Pictures attached. Should we be concerned? Pet's info: Dog | Dachshund | Male | neutered | 10 years and 6 months old | 18 lbs

This is probably caused by an allergic reaction. first of all make sure you de-flea Nugget regularly every month with a high quality spot on (ex. Advantage) as fleas are by far the most common reason for these reactions. If the fleas are not the problem, it could be an allergic reaction to food or an environmental factor. this is more complicated to treat and will sometimes require medications such as Steroids, anti histamines or cyclosporin in order to stop the allergy.
