My cat's nose turned pale after new food, should I be concerned?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Maine Coon | Male | neutered | 18 lbs

My cat, 8 years old, checked out healthy at his visit a couple months ago, generally has a pink nose. Since changing his dry food from one he didn't like, to a new one (both are pricier/organic/healthier brands) which he prefers so far, his nose has become noticeably more pale. He's not showing any symptoms of illness. Is there any cause for concern with the color change? Thank you.

I don't think is anything to be alarmed about right now. Just keep an eye on the nose coloration and I would recommend you take a photo once a month in the same lighting so you can have an objective way to measure the coloration. Color change of the nose can be indicative of an underlying issue (usually autoimmune disease however this is mostly an issue with dogs) . If you are worried you can always take Tuna back to your vet (or just call them) for a consult.
