I noticed tonight my cat lost hair on both sides if her neck. Now she is hiding behind the couch, she never goes behind the couch.

Usually cats will hide when they don't feel well. So, I'm guessing the hair loss has something to do with that. She really needs to see a vet. Any cat with hair loss that is not acting normally should have an exam and possibly some bloodwork. I don't have enough information from you (or photos) to even give you a remote guess as to what is going on. If she has been scratching a lot my guess would be fleas. Cats that have fleas often have hairloss around the neck and you may feel small bumps/scabs on the neck. Some other possibilities: * allergies * endocrine issue (like thyroid disease or diabetes * eosinophilic dermatitis * stress Those are just the things I can think of right away. The hair loss is just a symptom. You need to find out what the underlying problem is. I hope this helps. Best wishes.
