My cat is losing neck hair and hiding. Is she sick or stressed?

I noticed tonight my cat lost hair on both sides if her neck. Now she is hiding behind the couch, she never goes behind the couch. Pet's info: Cat | Ragdoll | Female | spayed | 9 lbs

Usually cats will hide when they don't feel well. So, I'm guessing the hair loss has something to do with that. She really needs to see a vet. Any cat with hair loss that is not acting normally should have an exam and possibly some bloodwork. I don't have enough information from you (or photos) to even give you a remote guess as to what is going on. If she has been scratching a lot my guess would be fleas. Cats that have fleas often have hairloss around the neck and you may feel small bumps/scabs on the neck. Some other possibilities: * allergies * endocrine issue (like thyroid disease or diabetes * eosinophilic dermatitis * stress Those are just the things I can think of right away.
