Is milky yellow discharge on my male dog's penis hair normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | unneutered | 1 month and 14 days old | 25 lbs

I've had my pup for about 3 weeks. He doesn't seem to be in any pain but after he uses the restroom sometimes his urine will become stuck to the hair at the tip of his penis and turn a bit almost milky yellow. I just don't know if this is normal. I started wiping him after he uses the bathroom

Yes, this is normal for some dogs to have a little bit of discharge from their penis that can become stuck to the hair. As long as his urinary habits haven't changed (no accidents in the house, etc) I wouldn't be worried. If he's not licking himself clean, you're doing exactly what you should by wiping him after he urinates!
