What are these small brown spots on my dog's belly near his privates?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 8 lbs

I just noticed small brown spots on my dog's stomach around his genital area. He does not have a flea infestations and never has any skin issues in the past. He is about 4 years old. Any ideas about what this could be?

It could be simple dirt/grime or blackheads (comedones). Either can be resolved by daily washing with a gentle soap or cleanser. See your veterinarian if the area becomes red, inflamed, causes discomfort or spreads.

    Hello. This looks like comedones, essentially blackheads. It is not anything that I would worry about since the skin is not inflamed or irritated. Just point this out to your veterinarian the next time Jasper needs to see his vet. She may recommend a mild steroid ointment, but will probably just have you watch the area.
