Should I use flea spot-on if my dog has scabs or skin sores?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 3 years and 2 months old | 12 lbs

Can I use this product (ovitrol xtend flea and tuck spot on) on my dog if she has sores that are scab covered? The sores are near her neck

I would not use any topical flea and tick product on an animal that has a current dermatologic condition. I would wait until the issues have been looked at by a veterinarian or have resolved on their own. If you need to use a preventative product, in the mean time I would use something that is given orally or as a collar. Nexgard and Seresto are both great products that meet these standards.
