My puppy threw up foamy vomit. When should I worry and call the vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 5 months and 12 days old | 10.6 lbs

My puppy threw up this morning and it looked a little foamy. She's teething so I'm thinking she probably ate something she wasn't supposed to. A part from that once in a while in the morning she throws up from an empty stomach but she hasn't done that for a while so is there something I should be looking out for during the day just incase it's something different?

I would monitor her for lethargy, decreased appetite, diarrhea, abdominal pain (pain if you press on belly, trouble getting comfortable, going down into prayer position with front legs down and bottom up in air), or continued vomiting, or blood in vomit or stool. If these signs occur, she should see her vet!
