My cat died from FIP. Is it contagious? How to protect my other cat?

Hello.my cat died from FIP 2 months ago and I don't want lucy to die too.I'm so worried.is there a way to keep her safe or make her immune system strong?he had wet FIP and when his oozing started,lucy and him didn't had contact.they actually never had phisycal contact so I hope she is not infected.and they were in two different place so their urine or poop or food wasn't in common.so can I prevent it?

FIP is not contagious cat to cat. It is a rare disease that is really sad because there is no cure. I am so sorry for your loss. Cats get FIP when they contract a virus that then mutates into what is known as FIP. The virus can be contagious but it causes no harm unless it mutates. And it is really rare for it to mutate so the chance of your other cat to also get it would be small. I would ensure that she is on a good high quality cat food and up to date on all of her vaccines.
