My dog ate a bee! What should I do if he swallows it? Is it bad?

We have bees that are attracted to clover in our yard. If our dog would catch and swallow a bee what should we do?

You probably won't need to do anything if this happens. Dogs can potentially have allergic reactions to bee stings but most dogs are not allergic. An allergic reaction is characterized by swelling and redness of the muzzle and around the eyes, and sometimes hives on the body. An allergic reaction if very itchy for the dog and they may rub their face or shake their head. If you see signs of an allergic reaction you should see a veterinarian promptly, but if not no treatment will be necessary. A life threatening anaphylactic reaction would be extremely rare.
