Why does my dog have itchy armpits and cysts? How can I help?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Maltese | Female | unspayed | 4 years and 1 month old | 4 lbs

Our wigglebutt has been having itchy skin under her armpit and has some sort of cysts and I'm really worried about her. What could it be? How can I help her get rid of the cysts and the itching? Do you have any advices and recommendations that I can afford in my country? A vet has recommended us to use a shampoo once but I don't remember the name of the shampoo. What do you think it could be?

I would wonder is Bella has allergies. The photos didn't come out well on my side but it looks like scabs maybe? I think you should look for an antibacterial shampoo for dogs and wash her in it twice a week. You could also give her an over the counter antihistamine which may help with the itching. If these don't work, I think you should take her into the vet for a stronger medication. In general, the more Bella itches at those areas, the worse she will make them.
