My 3-week-old kittens seem hungry. What kitten milk should I buy?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Bombay | Female | 1 year old

I'm just wondering my cat just had 3 kittens and I don't think she feeds them enough, when ever we come out she jumps straight out of her box and comes to be patted. If they are not getting enough milk can you suggest a good brand for kitten milk to get for them they are only 3 weeks old.

If the kittens are developing normally and have filled bellies and appear happy (ie do not constantly cry, then they are probably fed enough. If you want to supply kitten milk, any commercial brand kitten milk is suitable, in powdered or liquid form. Just make sure it specifies that it is formula for kittens (not cat milk). Here are two examples: http://www.wombaroo.com.au/cats/cat-milk-replacer and https://www.amazon.com/KMR%C2%AE-Powder-Kittens-Cats-12oz/dp/B0002ASS0M

I would recommend buying some milk replacer (KMR) and either bottle feed them or teach them how to lap it out of a shallow dish. It can be bought at Petsmart, Petco, Walmart, Farm and Fleet, etc. Soon they can start to eat softened kitten food (5-6 weeks).
