Why is my cat over-grooming, causing hair loss and bald spots?

Josie's been over-grooming in certain area's causing extreme hair thinning to the point I see pink underneath.No flea activity. Any ideas?? Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 5 years and 6 months old

Over grooming can be caused by stress or anxiety. You could try some Feliway spray or diffuser and see if that helps. She might also need an anti-anxiety medication, like Prozac. You could talk to your vet about prescribing.
