Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 9 years and 3 months old | 7 lbs
My cat has sores all over her body. She is 2 months into Advantage 2 flea treatments and we have been using a hot spot spray for a week. She does not go outside, but the dog may have brought fleas in. We believe this is a flea allergy as she did something similar in the past, but she is not healing now she does not have fleas. We just want her comfortable!

Poor Callie! It only takes one flea bite to cause an allergic reaction in an animal that has allergies to fleas. She also could have a secondary bacterial skin infection and may need an antibiotic to treat. Have her examined by a vet to see if an antibiotic would help. A short course of a corticosteroid may also help with the itching and make her a lot more comfortable and your vet can prescribe.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Charlie! It is best to take Charlie to your Vet. To relieve the allergic reaction to the fleas he needs steroids and possibly an antibiotic. Be sure to use a good flea preventive year round. The Seresto collar lasts for 8 months. I hope this helps and good luck to you and Charlie! I hope he feels better doon!

Allergic skin disease can be very frustrating as there is no treatment that works for every patient. Have you tried any Allergy treatments such as cyclosporine, apoquel, or steroids to bring her comfort while treating the fleas? If so and no improvement then a hypoallergenic diet trial may be a good next step. I’m sorry Nemo is so uncomfortable, and I hope she improves soon. Thank you for using Pet Coach.
