My dog has a dry cough and sounds like a hairball. Should I see a vet?

I have a 6 year old pitbull. For a couple weeks now she has been having a dry cough followed by what sounds like her throwing up a hairball or something. She does have food allergies and I did change her food a couple weeks ago and changed it back to her regular this past week. I am wondering should I take her to the vet or is it just her food allergies making her do that

the signs you described are more compatible with an upper respiratory tract inflammation/infection or tracheal inflammation (inflammatory, allergic, infective). A clinical examination at your local veterinarian is essential to confirm these clinical suspicions and treat appropriately. Antibiotics may be needed. Please do not hesitate to contact us again on the forum or by requesting a consultation if you have any more questions or to discuss it any further.
