My dog has gingivitis. Can I treat it at home or do I need a vet?

hello..may i ask, what are the home remedies to treat a dog's gingivitis?thanks a lot

Unfortunately the only way to really treat this issue is with dental scaling and polish performed by your veterinarian. There are some products which may offer a little help including an oral hygeinr rinse by CET http://m.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=24579, or the CET toothpaste if your dog will tolerate this, but really we would need to evaluate the teeth and see if there are underlying causes for the gingivitis.
