Why does my rabbit keep getting scabs on its nose? Is it infected?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Male | neutered

My rabbit has had a scab on his nose for about two weeks. It has now come off and I have realised there is another one next to it. I went to the vet when the scab first came up and he said he seems healthy and to come back if it gets worse. Is it infected?

It is very hard to tell from a picture if the bump is infected. Rabbits can get skin infections just like dog and cats. Also, they can get trauma from rubbing their nose. I would recommend taking back to veterinarian for more testing of this lesion.
