One possible cause of your cat's chin lesions is a condition called chin acne that occurs in cats. In mild cases we may treat with a topical shampoo containing benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid, or with a topical creme containing the same. In some cases, oral antibiotics may be needed as well. Unfortunately many of the human products containing benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid are a different concentration than the ones we use in pets. To be certain this is what is going on with your kitty and to get appropriate treatment, a veterinary exam is recommended. Also switching any plastic food or water dishes to ones made of glass/ceramic or stainless steel in case this is a reaction to plastics is recommended.
