Cat has a small bump above eye, not bothering him. Can I treat at home?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Maine Coon | 5 years and 10 months old

Indoor/outdoor cat has thumbnail size bump above eye. There is a thin red line surrounding the bump. No sensitivity, he isn't scratching, doesn't seem to bother him. Thin hair there, thought it was sunburn initially. Not a site where he had a tick or recent known injury. Local vets are very overpriced, hoping to try and treat at home first, but he is due for rabies shot in a couple of weeks, anyway, if it doesn't get better by then.
