Why is my indoor cat throwing up clear liquid and undigested food?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Exotic Shorthair | Female | unspayed | 3 years old | 5 lbs

Hello, I have a 3 year old female indoor only cat. She has thrown up clear liquid twice over the past 2 weeks. Tonight she threw up clear liquid and her full meal a few hours later. She is still drinking water and appears to have an appetite.

It sounds like Pudgy is developing chronic vomiting, there could be many reasons for that, for example pancretitis, IBD, Lymphoma, kidney failure and other conditions as well. you should take her to the vet in order to have a blood test done to start with, if the blood test comes back negative the next step will be x-ray or ultrasound.

Hello! Poor Marshmallow! Vomiting can be a symptom of a bowel obstruction, or hairball impaction, or an issue with the kidneys, liver or pancreas! I would recommend that you take her to see a vet, to have her examined. They may suggest blood tests or XRays, to look into what could be wrong.
