My dog has a paw rash and won't stop licking. Home care or vet?

my dog has a rash on the side of his paws and he can stop licking it is there something i could do for him at home ., or do i have to got to the vet ? my dog name is shaggy and his 2years. thank you

Hi there. Sorry Shaggy is having this issue. I'm not sure what is causing him to lick his paw but you can sure try applying an anti-itch spray to that area for a few days. You can pick up one of those sprays at Petco/Petsmart without a prescription. You will also need to try to keep him from licking it by putting an E-collar cone on him which you can also get at Petco/Petsmart. This is absolutely necessary! If you don't keep him from licking it then no matter what you apply to the area he will just lick it off and it will not do any good. If after about 3-4 days if there is no improvement then you should definitely get him to a vet for an examination. I hope this helps. Best wishes! Dr. Amber
