What should I do if my cat got a chemical burn from a flea collar?

My cat was exposed to fleas so I put a flea collar on her. But after just a few days she was acting weird so I took it off. When I took it off she had what looks like a chemical burn around her neck. She keeps trying to scratch it and I am very worried about what happened to her. Pet's info: Cat | British Shorthair | Female | spayed | 6 lbs

Poor kitty! There are lots of products on that market, some better than others. Many over the counter products contain older drug technology. The only collar that I use is a collar called Seresto. Oral flea preventatives are also a good option. Topical Revolution works well too. She should heal just fine now that the collar is off, and I would prefer to use an oral now to avoid any further skin irritation.
