My dog's face is puffy and has nose sores. What should I do next?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 2 years and 3 months old | 45 lbs

My beagle mix is about a year old and up to date with shots. The other day his face was puffy. We thought he might have gotten stung. Gave him benedryl. Looked better. Today, he looks a little funny (like maybe a little puffy still) and now has sores on his nose. Any help?

Oh poor Rugar, he's such a cutie! From the photos, it does look like to me that his face is still swollen on the right side of his face. His face does look a little off, not symmetrical. It is possible that he was bitten or stung by something, and I would have him seen by a vet today if possible. The vet can diagnose what is causing the swelling and can prescribe medications to treat it.
