My cats have worms. How do I clean furniture, rugs, and cat beds?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 2 years and 3 months old | 9.7 lbs

My three cats were boarded at a facility about 4 weeks ago, they are treated diligently with Revolution. However, my cats now have tapeworms and round worms. I'm have the cats treated, and quarantining them in our laundry room free of mats, beds, carpet, etc. How do I decontaminate my furniture, area rugs, cat beds, etc.

Oh no, I'm sorry your cats have tapeworms and roundworms! Good on your for getting them treated right away. As for cleaning your home, vacuum the furniture and area rugs thoroughly. Using a steam cleaner on them will help kill any eggs on them. Wash the cat beds and any other linens in hot and soapy water, which will kill the eggs as well. Good luck, I hope this helps!
