Why is my Shih Tzu scratching her red private area after grooming?

My shih tzu just got groomed on Sunday, I realize that her private area is red as if she has a rash, she's been scratching her bottom also.. what should I do? Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 1 year and 2 months old | 13 lbs

Hello. She could have a rash due to the shorter hair cut or just not tolerating the soaps well. I would recommend getting an collar so she can't chew at it, as this will help it heal faster. You can also discuss with your vet about putting Sudocream on it to help with the rash and irritation. If she is scratching at her bum then her anal glands may need to be checked as well.
