It's impossible how much chocolate was in the frosting without knowing a bit more about it - the brand, perhaps, and the variety (dark chocolate, milk chocolate, etc) but in general products like this don't tend to have a lot of actual chocolate in them. However, there is a considerable amount of fat in a pound of frosting and chocolate or not I would be worried that Emma could have a pretty bad case of dietary gastroenteritis (inflammation of the GI tract due to ingestion of difficult to digest foods) or even - more seriously - pancreatitis, which can be initiated by eating foods high in fats. As she's showing symptoms - the vomiting you mentioned - I would be worried about her, and I would take her in right now for some treatment. Bring the container of frosting with you so that the vet might be able to call ASPCA's poison control to understand the amount of chocolate ingested. If the chocolate isn't concerning Emma would probably benefit from from some fluids and anti-nausea drugs.

Vomiting is never a good sign especially for a puppy. You should also be concerned about a possible chocolate toxicity although it is difficult to know how much actual chocolate there was in the frosting. I would recommend taking Emma to the vet right away and if possible, take the frosting container with you.

Poor Emma! As I'm sure you're aware, chocolate is toxic to dogs, but the severity of the signs are dependent upon how much actual chocolate was ingested. Signs can range from vomiting and diarrhea with frequent urination, to increased heart rate with arrhythmias, to seizures and tremors, and can even lead to death in severe cases. The tricky part in this case is determining the exact amount of chocolate in the frosting and the percentage of the cocoa. For example, if the chocolate frosting contained 2 oz. of 60% cocoa, at Emma's 45 pound body weight, she would be expected to only develop vomiting and diarrhea. However, if the frosting contained 2 oz. of 86% cocoa, Emma could develop elevations in her heart rate and arrhythmias. You should call the manufacturer of the frosting to determine their exact ingredients and then contact the ASPCA animal poison control center at (888) 426-4435. They may recommend taking her to an ER for monitoring and supportive fluid therapy. If the ASPCA animal poison control center is able to determine that Emma should not experience severe clinical signs from ingesting the frosting, you can try offering a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken and white rice for a few days before transitioning back to her normal diet. However, if Emma is lethargic, not eating, or continues vomiting, she should be examined by an ER vet because she could develop pancreatitis from eating so much chocolate frosting. I hope that Emma is feeling better soon!
