My cat is straining to pee, no improvement. What should I do?

My cat princess is straining to wee. She has this alot, sometimes the vet says its crystals and sometimes they say cystitis. I took her to the vet 3 days ago, they gave me some loxicom. My cat is no better, if anything shes trying to wee more. My vet aren't seeing animals due to covid 19 and have advised me to take them a urine sample. But this doesn't solve the immediate problem for my cat. I have also in the past been unable to collect a sample.

I would say that your cat needs further diagnostics at this point. A urine sample is definitely indicated but why doe she keep having recurrent cystitis? Abdominal x-rays may reveal bladder stones. If not, she may require an ultrasound to look for abnormalities of the bladder. For now she should be on a strictly wet, prescription urinary diet and her urine shoulds be sampled for urinalysis plus culture. She needs pain medication alongside her anti-inflammatory and to monitor her urination habits very carefully. Try to reduce stress in the home and encourage more drinking.

I would recommend taking her back to the vet for more detailed testing. She might need x-rays to make sure she does not have bladder stones. Typically the diet to dissolve the crystals is a food cats will eat for life. I would recommend starting Lil Bear back on the prescription food and continue long term
