Why is my pregnant cat bleeding and trying to nurse other kittens?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 10 months and 21 days old | 7 lbs

i have a one year old cat who should be giving birth anytime now i think. she’s will not leave the side of her mom who just had kittens and she is trying to nurse them. she herself has not given birth yet and i have noticed some blood in a couple spots around the house. i haven’t seen it come from her but can only assume. is that okay?

This is not ideal - I'd recommend trying to keep her separated from her mom until the kittens are born. It would also not be normal to see blood before she is in labor, so if you continue to see blood and/or if you determine where it is coming from you should have her seen by your vet.
