Pet's info: Dog | Shihpoo | Male | neutered | 5 years and 1 month old | 11 lbs
I have a 11 pound shipoo dog and he has had runny diarrhea for about 5 days. He does not seem to be sick otherwise, he is energetic as usual. I have been feeding him white rice mixed with boiled white chicken for past 2 days. He still has diarrhea. What should I do

Poor guy. His diarrhea is likely not going to respond to conservative methods if it has been going on for this long. You can certainly try a few additional things today and if still no improvement take him in to your vet on tomorrow. Continue the bland diet, but then add in 1-2 tsp of canned pumpkin (not the pie filling) and a probiotic such as Culturelle (over the counter) or Fortiflora (available online and some pet stores). But again, if there is no improvement, then there likely is an underlying cause that needs to be investigated and treated. The vet will first want to check for intestinal parasites. I do hope that Toby's diarrhea improves soon! Best wishes and take care.
