My dog has a growing, movable lump on his neck. Is it serious?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Doberman Pinscher | Male | unneutered | 7 months and 17 days old | 61 lbs

Over the past couple of days Kiyaan has developed a lump on the back of his neck between his shoulder blades. It seems to have gotten bigger, but it does not seem to bother him. He does not feel any discomfort when pressed. Touching the lump feels like it moves back and forth, unattached but under the skin.

Hello. It is unlikely this is anything serious, but it always prudent to point out any new lumps, bumps or swellings as soon as possible to your veterinarian. Diagnosis of a cause is usually very easy, & if any treatment is warranted, it can begin quickly. I hope all is well & thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
