My puppy scratched me. Rabies risk if healthy after 2 months?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Siberian Husky | Male | 4 months and 6 days old | 1lb

2mos ago, my 2mo old husky puppy accidentally tooth scratched me. It was never exposed to a rabid/any animal, just its vaccinated mom. Am I at risk of rabies? The puppy is still healthy now, 2mos after the incident. Im not feeling any signs of being infected or sick, but Im afraid its just taking time before I see the signs if ever I am really infected. Must I still worry? If my puppy passed and survived the 10day quarantine, does it mean it didnt transmit rabies back then? Im really worried....

Hello. I’ve noticed that you have asked this question several times. If your pup showed no signs of illness during the 10 day quarantine, you and the puppy are not at risk. However, if you have not vaccinated the puppy against rabies yet, you definitely should do you don’t run into this situation again. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach
