Why is my dog's stool white? Is it due to his diet or something else?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Brussels Griffon | Male | neutered | 3 years old | 13 lbs

My dog's faeces is white, rather than the usual dark brown. What is the possible reason? His diet consists of Kibble made with 100% lamb and some rice, I mix in a small amount of tinned food to soften the kibble - otherwise he will not eat them.

Some ingredients such as bone meal can cause white stool, however other issues such as problems with properly digesting/absorbing nutrients can also cause pale or chalky stools. I would bring Newton into your vet for a complete exam and bloodwork to check for these problems.
