My cat has a small bald spot. Is it serious? When to see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 1 year and 3 months old

My cat has a small bald spot and I’m wondering if I should be concerned. I’m a college student and don’t have the funds to spend on a visit just to find out if it could be something more serious or not.

It looks like an injury; not serious. You can do nothing at this time if it is not bothering him and see if it heals. If it is bothering him (like he is scratching at it), you will need to put a cone collar on him and apply a topical to it so it can heal.
