My dog's nail is split to the quick and hanging. Should I cut it?

My dog was digging in the snow and I stopped her, came inside and noticed her not walking on front paw and saw the nail was split to the top and hanging, I do not know if I should cut it off as high as possible? it goes up all the way split right from the quick it looks like. Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Female | spayed | 55 lbs

If you attempt to cut this it will bleed badly snd cause a lot of pain. I would advise going to a vet and they will be able to pull the black shell of the nail out (not as bad as it sounds, the nail comes away easy with a good tug) then a bandage can be apllied to provide support for 24 hours.
