My dog's nail is split to the quick and hanging. Should I cut it?

Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Female | spayed | 55 lbs

My dog was digging in the snow and I stopped her, came inside and noticed her not walking on front paw and saw the nail was split to the top and hanging, I do not know if I should cut it off as high as possible? it goes up all the way split right from the quick it looks like.

If you attempt to cut this it will bleed badly snd cause a lot of pain. I would advise going to a vet and they will be able to pull the black shell of the nail out (not as bad as it sounds, the nail comes away easy with a good tug) then a bandage can be apllied to provide support for 24 hours.
