Why is my grey cat getting white hairs? Is her fur color changing?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 6 lbs

My cat is an all grey cat that will be two! She had one or two white hairs on her body. Now her back legs are growing some more. Does this mean anything?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It is not abnormal for pets hair coat color to change. Sometimes the pigment in the hair follicles (melanin) can change over time. As long as the coat still looks healthy and isn't falling out, I wouldn't be concerned. Kisses to Phoebe!
