My corn snake eats less and poops right after eating. Is this normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Reptile | Other Snake | Male | 1 year and 3 months old

My 1 year 3 month old corn snake hasn't been eating normally for the past few weeks. The conditions in his tank have been consistent. Humidity is 30%-50% and the temperatures are between 75 and 85 degrees. He usually eats three small mice every week, but for the past few weeks, he's only been eating one. I've also noticed that right after he eats the mouse, he poops and pees. He does this within minutes of eating. What could be causing this? I'm getting really worried.

At that age, you can feed once every 10 days. Instead of 3 smaller mice, try offering one larger mouse. Monitor his weight to catch any weight loss early. A snake will defecate once for every meal within a few days of eating. The elimination is likely normal and simply when he decides to "go".
