I believe my dog is experiencing a serious case of separation anxiety. When he is crated he instantly tries to get out by bending the door of the crate and bruises up his nose in the process and paws. He barks uncontrollably as well as urinates and defecates in the home even after going out numerous times throughout the day. This would all happen any time I am not home even for short periods of time, e.g. 1-2 hrs. What can I do to help my dog relieve his destructive behavior?

That sounds tough. Here are a few links about separation anxiety: https://www.petcoach.co/article/separation-anxiety/ https://www.petcoach.co/article/treatment-options-for-separation-anxiety-in-dogs/ https://www.petcoach.co/article/7-natural-treatments-for-dog-anxiety/ Severe cases benefit from medication and behavioral modification. I recommend to have Chance examined by the veterinarian to discuss treatment options. I hope this helps.
