My puppy has a red, irritated spot on her neck. Hot spot or ringworm?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Female | spayed | 24 lbs

We just got our puppy on Halloween of this past year. She’s up to date on her shots and had parasites but they’re all gone now. She has a leasion on her neck thats red and irritated about the size of a nickel. I’m not sure if it’s a hotspot from her collar or her scratching it but I’m trying to figure out what it could be before taking her to the vet.

This area definitely looks like a possible hot spot. It certainly could be a ringworm spot if the area is crusty on the edges. If it is not crusty, then a hot spot is more likely which should resopond well to some topical antibiotic spray or cream. Best of luck with Bella moving forward. Take care. : )
