What's this sudden, painless lump on my dog's leg or paw?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Male | neutered | 11 years and 11 months old | 16 lbs

My dog has a weird growth/mass on his back left leg/ paw; not sure what this can be...it seems like it developed over night. It’s not hurting him any idea?

From the photo this looks like either a fluid filled cyst or a mass. If it were an infection it would be painful and inflamed. I recommend a veterinary exam to feel this and perhaps insert a needle in it to look at the cells. From those they can tell you what it is and if it should be removed.
